The Gradle Git?Version plugin by Palantir provides automated versioning by integrating Git metadata into the build process. It uses git describe --tags --always --first-parent logic to generate a dynamic version string�adding a .dirty suffix when the working directory has uncommitted changes�so that versioning directly reflects the Git history.
