We have hosted the application freecs in order to run this application in our online workstations with Wine or directly.

Quick description about freecs:

FreeCS is a free-software reimplementation of Counter-Strike 1.5 running on the FTE QuakeWorld engine.

All it is, is a game-logic re-implementation in QuakeC, an architecture independent programming language. FreeCS is not a game-engine as it relies on FTEQW (released under the GPL V2).

All this makes it possible to play FreeCS on virtually any platform! No DRM! No third-party accounts! Just download, play, contribute.

Q: Why 1.5?
A: Last free-to-download version of CS! Also, in my opinion, the best one. No shield to ruin matches with!

Q: Why didn't you use Xash3D?
A: Valve has spoken out against Xash, as it violates their HL-SDK license, as well as the GPL2 for mixing id Software's code with theirs - rendering it illegal. Besides, FreeCS is platform-agnostic. So it runs wherever FTEQW runs, whereas Xash3D can only load native binary modules (so CS 1.5 can only be played on Win32)
